Day of Caring
We opened our doors on December 15 for Day of Caring, where we clothe and feed those who need it. Because of the boards decision to purchase over $1000 worth of essentials like dish soap, laundry detergent, shampoo conditioner and other household necessities we were able to bless over 45 families. We continued to get messages through text and social media, asking if we had any supplies left and were able to continue to serve six individuals to date.
One mom of three teenagers was working at Walmart on the morning that my wife Ashley went to pick up milk and cereal for day of caring. Ashley went at 5:30 AM right after they had opened and bought 30 jugs of milk and 30 boxes of cereal. She was talking to the checkout worker and the lady said oh I was going to come to that, but I'm working during that time. So Ashley told her here's my phone number you give me a call after you're off and I'll meet you there. The lady came and was able to bring her teenage daughter with her who picked out tons of clothes, but the biggest blessing that the lady received was jeans for her teenage son. Her son just started a new job and the jeans were one of the things that they were really he really needed. Now the cool thing about this story is those jeans came from a member at the Claremore Seventh-day Adventist church who had seen our post on Ok Adventist, Facebook events and had a couple of boxes of clothes that her son had outgrown. She had them ready to go and drop them off at the church a couple of days before this event. You never know how the donations that you bring are going to affect people in our community.
One of the items that has been requested over and over is towels. If you have any towels that you don't need anymore or any of the items below, please drop them off at the church before May 25.
